Ethical Considerations Concerning Animal Testing

Nihon Nohyaku and the Nihon Nohyaku Group outlines internal regulations concerning animal testing based on the "Act on the Protection and Management of Animals" and relevant guidelines.
We also have established an Animal Testing Committee. When animal testing is needed, the committee conducts inspections in advance to confirm that animal testing plans are being made in accordance with the 3Rs (Replacement (use of alternative methods), Reduction (reduce number of animals used) and Refinement (reduce animal suffering)), to ensure appropriate animal testing.
Furthermore, we conduct voluntary inspection and assessments of the status of animal testing to maintain and improve the ethical and scientific nature of our animal testing. Through the above initiatives, our facilities are third-party certified by the Japan Human Science Foundation's Animal Testing Facility Certification Center.
